my dad was imprisoned there (and in two different camps) because of being in the dutch underground resistance. his experiences haunted him till the day he died. glad to read you heard some uplifting stories.

Not at all.. It is a very humbling place to visit, even when you don't have an actual personal story behind it.  Very atmospheric, depressing even, but I'm glad I went, it gave me a lot to think about.  I'm sure it would be a very tough place to go knowing your father spent time there. The tour guides share some terrible stories, but some uplifting ones, too.

please feel free to delete my comments, as they are not meant as an addition to your excellent album which fully tells the story.

my dad was kept prisoner here for nearly three years. he never talked about it, never wanted us(there are 6 of us) to go and visit the camp. strange enough i thought i would not even want to visit. i really am deeply impressed with your 'tour'. i pondered on showing this album to my mom (93), but don't think i will. thanks again.

This was the medical wing, the part of the camp they kept clean and lovely to show to visiting officials, journalists etc. to show off the camp, it was very high tech to show how 'well' prisoners were treated.

never ever thought i'd be sitting at a computer , seeing the places he securely kept locked away from us.
