About:

Also on flickr (caolan*)

Recently bought the S5is, really like the camera. Takes a nice shot but im still slowly learning the ropes. Any feedback is welcomed, be it positive/negative, I won't take it personally!

Also use a Canon EOS 650, it's actually my Dad's and he has kindly loaned it to me to mess around with. None of the photos are up here as I haven't got around to processing the films. Fingers crossed they come out nice and sharp not like when I was a kid and there was major hand-shake issues!

Hope you all enjoy my shots!

yeah....as long as you speak quietly and walk slowly they don't see you as a threat...but you have to keep a few feet between you and the gators!

Thanks for the tips Shane, yeah it is a pity about the lens, there's not much of a range for the S5is. I did buy a cheap telephoto lens off ebay but its really terrible...you pay for what you get! It gives everything a blue-ish tinge and there's so much distortion so I never use it. I don't know what the Canon telephoto lens for the s5 is like, I probably should've got it instead. I'll have a go at the cropping and contrast, i rarely use software...due to the fact I'm clueless about most of the functions!

It's a pity you didn't have a longer lens to take these shots. A shot of one of these beauties taking up all the screen is awesome. I see you had a focal length of 59mm. That practically a wide lens shot. Could you crop some of the image in a photo software package like photoshop to make the baloon fill more of the image? If you could also brighten & boost the contrast & colours, this would work well. I'm not sure the size of the original image, so I don't know if a severe crop will give enough clarity in the baloon.

I love the way you caught the burner going up into the baloon.

Thanks, they're so light they just blow in the wind. Took me about 5 mins to get the shot!

Thanks, he's actually my boyfriend's mother's dog. We were dog-sitting him for a few days and he was fascinated with the mirror!
