Amazing shot - was this out on the photo walk?

Yep. It was a woman on the market making me some cool spontaneous poses for fun ... but as the light was from behind here and didn't work very well I cropped this out.

I have only Brixton walk pictures here on Pixie, all my other stuff is on Flickr.

Wow you were lucky - some of the people in the market just didnt want their pics taken!  Whats your ID on Flickr?

People need personal approach :)

Sometimes I ask, sometimes I just move closer with my camera and see how they react. There are always people who love to have their pictures taken, and there are some who need some persuasion and encouragement (can't say I'm very good at that). And sometimes I just blatantly take pictures of people if they don't look too dangerous, and try to smile to them ... one woman in Brixton market came also to me and wanted to see on my camera screen that I'm deleting all the pictures I took of her. Happens.

Are you on Flickr as well?

Yes I had the same experience - some people were saying "no photos" and I am also very wary of taking photos of children but the children yesterday were posing everywhere!  I had one guy posed in the market and it would have been a great shot but unfortunately it came out blurred as the light wasnt good.  I think a smile and a thank you usually work - but its all hit and miss isnt it!

I am on flickr too - am the same - only post London Photo Walk photos here.

Yep, I missed a wonderful photo oportunity with two shopkeepers very early on who wanted to join the walk and tried to sell me an old film camera from their tools&stuff shop ... I just wasn't in the right mood yet ... but was so annoyed with myself afterwards for not taking any pictures of them that didn't feel like taking any pictures at all for an hour or so afterwards :)

If you like taking photos of people you may want to check out Duncan Raban's website:

His photostories (click on 'Duncan's people') are amazing ... he's been such an inspiration to me since I found his website.
