Contest griefers

My experiences at the Guinness storehouse, Dublin and Ireland in general were outstanding.

I posted a photo from my Storehouse visit on my usual sharing site and it was very well received so I submitted it to the contest and asked my online photo friends, and some real life friends to come to pix.ie and vote for my shot. They were happy to do it and they created accounts and also left comments, which is what we always do for each other on our primary site.

Within a few days I started getting grief comments alledging I was cheating and had created multiple accounts to vote for myself. My firends started calling and emailing me immediately to tell me what was being said.
Now, I'm sure that happens but I'm also sure the good folks at pix.ie can easily see the locations of the ip and email addresses and act accordingly.

I rebutted the first grief comment but then a few more came in saying that because the commenters had no photos on pix.ie that they must be fake. Well, really, why would they have a presence on pix.ie if they typically use another service and only went there to vote for my image in the first place? It's not rocket science.

As I explored around pix.ie, I noticed that complaining about the credibility of comments / votes was more common than I would have believed... and I'm not just talking about the Guinness contest. I mean random photos. Odd that.

So now, after three days of griefers, and seeing there is no way on pix.ie to block individuals, I've disabled the comments on my photo. It's sad that I had to do that but I felt it was not the place for a flame war. I wanted to post my shot as part of a fun memory. Now, it's not fun. The griefers have suceeded as they have tainted the joy I felt in my trip to Guinness and to Dublin.

This post is not intended as a complaint but more as an FYI for future entrants.
