About:

Well I took the plunge and invested in my first DSLR at the start of January 2010. I always had an interest in taking pictures and ever since I got the DSLR I cant put the thing down. It has consumed me and I am just trying to learn as much as I can. Hopefully it wont end my marraige lol. I have a very understanding wife but I must make a conscious effort not to push my luck to far :-)

This one for me is my fovourite. It's got the right balance and framing. I love the B/W treatment, it really adds.

Apart from the Court building behind, this could be down the country. Lovely Gate House. Great shot.

Fantastic Star Trek collection. Do we have a Fan on our hands. Is this the chap that was inside R2-D2, Kenny Baker?

Absolutely.. the thing is to try to make it look as normal as possible.. May take a while though to feel comfortable doing that :-D

lol...classic ... I know what u mean about wondering what other people are thinking ...... I remember taking some night shots down at skerries harbour. So there I was...cold night...gloves on....camera...tripod...hat and a pair of combats.... It was then that  I realised anyone that was walking by must have been wondering what the hell is that idiot doing snooping around the harbour on a freezing cold dark night...lol...you become so conscious in these situations especially when u are just starting...oh the joys of it all

Hehe.. Thankfully I am always the passenger & can chat away to myself about such things :-D

Yes, I find myself doing that also.. looking at everything in a different manner. The other day I was out walking and had the camera with me with a loan of a macro lens. It took me ages to get a short distance & I'm sure I looked like some kind of pervert hiding in the bushes.. I was getting funny looks & then I made sure my camera was visible, but I think that made me look even more guilty :-/

Thanks for your nice comments Susie. Im delighted you have developed a real passion for photography as it opens up a whole new world to you. You start to look at things in different ways than before. Although be careful, sometimes when im driving the car I will see something and say "Oh look at that, it would make a great shot" and start to vere over the other side of the road ......... Mental note to keep my eyes on the road :-)

Thanks PQuigley, yes, it is a HDR shot, handheld using 3 shots. I see from your portrait u wish to explore HDR also. I agree with your comments that photography is as much about art as it is about photography. You will come across people who snub their nose at HDR, but hey follow your instinct and above all what brings you most joy.
