Love to shoot.  I keep my photoblog here on Galloping Green and my 2010 Project 365 is here.

Thanks you two. Funny how the iPhone gives a completely different creative outlet. This is via instagram but pp'd in photoshop for a more radical b&w conversion.

Stunning.  Nice fella I'm sure!  Relative position of the shadow is great - think it might be adding to the feeling of giant scale too.

I do, this is dytiscus marginalis (Great Diving Beetle), and a serious predator by all accounts (tadpoles, small fish, insects etc). This fella was about 4cm long.  The "suckers" you've mentioned are only on the male and they're used to attach to the female during, well you know!.  Fascinating creature. Huge!  Google the latin name and you can read more (particularly about their flight patterns!)

Love the detail in this one...would you know what are the small heart-shaped things on the sides? Curious now... ;o)
