Description

A composite of two shots. The people and benches were on a jetty in Dubrovnik and were captured while I was on the ferry returning from Lokrum. The birds are from a shot taken in Timoleague, Cork.

Very nice Ronan and very well put together.

I've been off line for a few days but had a catch up through your photoblog, and at Dubrovnik in particular. Was there a few years ago and absolutely loved everything about it. ( Especially the food )

Mick.

Thanks Mick.

Food was good alright although found Dubrovnik itself a bit busy.  Would highly recommend the island of Mljet (which will feature a little on the blog closer to the weekend).

Thanks Henry.  It's definitely a personal favourite for me.  Will probably enter this in the camera club monthly competition so hopefully the judge will like it too!

Thanks TownieLee.

Incidentally I found out a few days ago that this photo has gotten through to the next stage of the Digital Camera Photographer of the Year 2009 competition in the Digital Vision category, so fingers crossed it makes the shortlist!

The people look like sculptures. Terrific! What org/company sponsoring the Dig Cam Photog of Year 2009?   Best of luck!

Great shot(s) Ronan. Love the image. It's like the matchstick men song with the birds adding drama.

I like it! Very quirky and appealing. Well done you and congrats :) Id say it would look class on a big yellow wall.

# by ronanpalliser on 2009-Oct-06

Thanks Katie.  Funny you should say that about a big yellow wall... I was thinking it would be cool to get it done on perspex with the white staying clear.

aafke
# by aafke on 2009-Oct-06

a question for you ronan, where and how would you get that done on/in perspex?

off top-pic: i saw the most amazing pespex pics in a deserted church building in nl

ronanpalliser
# by ronanpalliser on 2009-Oct-06

I saw a few suppliers at the Photovision show in Croke Park last month and took some of their brochures... off hand I can't remember the one that had the perspex option but I'll check the stuff I came home with this evening and get back to you.

# by katiemaloe on 2009-Oct-06

Oh yeah, that would be a cool idea! Kinda funky too! I love stark black and white pics on yellows walls. No shortage of yellow at my place cos its my favorite colour! :)

Id say you would have to be careful where you hang perspex so there isnt mad reflection. Such a brilliant pic.

the reflection i noticed were of the opposite church windows, they added to the shiny photos on the rough brick walls

Nice one... that kind of contrast in textures and surfaces would work really well :)
