I really have to ask how did you manage to capture this guy... I tried for months to get a shot of a kingfisher.. followed one up and down the dodder.. not a hope! They move so fast

Pure luck ;-) I used to work in an office on the banks of the Boyne. One Thursday I arrived in to find this boyo flying up and down outside. I brought my camera back after lunch and he duly posed for me. It was taken through the window of my office. I know. Mad!

Excellent shot, I tracked one of these up the grand canal in my kayak, he finally landed on a branch and by the time I had the camera up to my eye he was gone again. Fair play
