yep, another star added to your universe

I was playing with a telescope. This is how far Jupiter, it's moons and 'local' stars moved across the frame in 30 seconds. Fun, eh?

Thanks for clicking on the 5 stars above too.

Just remember that you're standing on a planet that's evolving And revolving at nine hundred miles an hour...

Thanks, Aafke. I've been thinking about the pictures I take and I've discovered that I like capture people going about their business. I find my daily routine involves being in-doors where everything is within arms-reach. I really appreciate space and light.

I was given an old telescope about two years ago so I finally got around to trying it out last night. I think the lens diameter is 4 inches, the focal length is 900mm. I mounted my camera on it with a t-mount adaptor and used the Moon to focus at infinity. After about 15 minutes searching I managed to get Jupiter in the frame. I fired off a range of shots at a range of shutter speeds and ISOs. The whole set-up was very unstable so I used the self timer to avoid shake.

I think the background 'stars' are really sensor noise. I like this one because you can chearly see four moons, Europa, Ganymede, Io and Callisto. (Top to bottom) With a lower ISO in this picture you can see two bands of cloud on the planet.

The picture was taken through a slightly foggy velux window. I would have had to try find Jupiter again If I opened the window so, I think I'll try that another time.

I'm glad you like it. 8D

If you don't do anything, you won't break anything either.
